WarGames

When I get to think of the 1980s classic english movie flick, I remember one of the very good comedy movie named "Nine to Five" in which Jane, Dolly and Lily are three over worked and under paid secretaries who get their chance for revenge against chauvinistic boss Dabney as a salute to all "pink collar" workers.

Recently watched movie

I recently watched an old Hindi movie called Sarfarosh for the first time. I repented why I had never watched it earlier. It is not a masala movie. A movie that details on India's border issues. How traitors work is shown in detail along with their internal network connection that works all the way up to the top. The movie also showed how innocent people get killed and their valuables are used for arms and ammunitions. Aamir Khan has done justice to the role and I had really loved the way he has acted. Above all he looks very handsome in the movie ;). If you have watched this earlier, you can always watch again.

National Treasure - Movie Review

Language: English
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Sean Bean, Justin Bartha, Harvey Keitel, Jon Voight, Christopher Plummer

Story: National treasure is a story of lost treasure and Nic cage and
Justin Bartha setout to unravel the treasure and that is when they are double crossed by Sean Bean. Nic and Bartha clear each and every hurdle and solve the clues and get ahead to the next step. How they discover the city of gold is the story.

Review: The movie is a good entertainer though do not get philosophical and search for logic in the movie. Just watch it as an entertainer as there are areas which will get you to laugh out loud because we feel that it is impossible. A sample of that could be the abduction of Mr. President lol...Justin Bartha amuses with his comic role. On the whole, you will be taken on a little adventure through the American history.

My rating: *** 3/5

Om Shanti Om - Movie Review

I watched this movie last weekend and wanted to write a review for the same.

Story line:
Om Prakash(Shahrukh khan) is a junior artist and has dreams of becoming a super hero in the movie field. He is a die hard fan of Shantipriya (Deepika padukone) who is a top class heroine. Slowly he falls in love with her but its a one sided love. Before he could propose to her he comes to know that she is married to a rich producer in the industry and also gets pregnant. Shahrukh shatters hearing this news. The rich producer turns down Deepika and also kills her. In the process of saving Deepika's life, shahrukh too dies and there comes the interval break. The second half of the movie is about the saga of reincarnation of Shahrukh khan who becomes a super hero in his new birth era. He gets reminded of his previous birth often and he wants to take revenge on the rich producer who killed Deepika. Whether he kills him or not is the climax.

Review:
The first half of the movie takes you to the Bollywood in 1970s and it was so pleasant and funny to watch. I would say a very different experience for me as I could not imagine how Bollywood was 30 to 35 yrs ago. The first half hour or so was very hilarious and the movie drastically slows down after that with lot of unnecessary songs in different situations. Again the movie gets serious after the reincarnation saga and the last forty five mintues is again full fun especially the film fare awards scenes. Abishek Bacchan and Akshay Khanna were the best among all. Similar event that takes place in 70s where Shahrukh enters the premiere claiming to be Manoj Kumar was ultimate. When the real Manoj Kumar comes to the scene and was asked to show the license which had his face covered and signed was top class and the whole theater was brimming out with laughter. When shahrukh mocks at kollywood with words like "enna da, mind it, rascal" and fighting with villain by flying in the sky, I could not control my laughter.

My rating: * * * 3/5
You can definitely watch once.

Shahrukh, the ace khan

Its just sometime since I wrote the movie review of my favourite Bollywood star for his stupendous performance in a brilliantly shot movie "Chak De India"

And the day has come where we celebrate his 42nd birthday along with him. He still looks very young and cannot say that he turns 42 today Nov 2nd 2007. Well look at his hair style and the amount of hair in his skull.. well well all bald men or turning bald men fall crazy over his hair. Best part is its the same till date. I am a fan of his hair :) too appealing...

I wish Shahrukh a very happy birthday on everyone's behalf :-)

Chake De India - Movie review in my style

Movie Name : Chak De India
Director : Shimit Amin
Producer : Aditya Chopra
Starring
Shah Rukh Khan .... Kabir Khan
Vidya Malvade .... Vidya Sharma
Sagarika Ghatge .... Preeti Sabharwal
And others..

Story: A hockey player was wrongly convicted and dismissed out of the game. He takes an oath to prove himself right and goes about mentoring and coaching the women hockey team. The women in the hockey team hail from different community and states within India. How the mentor makes them feel the oneness and brings the feeling of INDIAN in them and how they win the match against many countries and triumph in the end.

Review:

The very plus point of this movie is having taken Hockey as the nucleus of the movie. We Indians having Hockey as the national game tend to only watch cricket all the time and thus ending not knowing an inch of Hockey. Kudos to the director for making all the audience aware of what the game is and the rules of the game and how to play it.

This results in the audience first knowing the game and the importance it brings to our country and the pathetic situation where the Indian Govt does not bother a bit about bringing up the hockey team to the international level. In the first place, its hardly noted as a national game.

The movie also portraits the same thought initially wherein the Hockey board themselves does not believe in the women hockey team and offer the women team to face the competition against the men hockey team. The women hockey team strive their best to win against the men hockey team. With much efforts, they finally fail but it was worth the try. The men hockey team salutes the women team for their hardwork and dedication and finally the women team get to play at the international level.

Having crossed the first hurdle, the team sets to play against many different countries. With proper inculcation of patriotism, hardwork, dedication, determination and positive attitude among the girls, the mentor makes them win the match and get the Hockey world cup.

A beautifully made screen play has shaped up the movie so well. Each of the girls have acted so well and Shah Rukh has demonstrated that he is a matured and experienced actor. He is simply adorable.

So my rating for the movie is * * * * * 5 stars :)

Happy watching! Hail India! Hail Hockey!
