After minimunch, I was determined to change the favicon for my blogger site too. I was quite bored with the 'B' icon of blogger. So to note my name, I added a favicon 'L' as in Lakshmi and it successfully reflects now.
I am going to mention in short what I did to get it done for blogger.
1. Am sure everyone will have a yahoo account. So upload your .ico file to yahoo briefcase and this is what I did.
2. Now try to click on the uploaded path in the yahoo briefcase. A url will open up showing your icon on the web page. copy the url.
3. Paste the below content by replacing the "title" tag. This title tag appears on the edit HTML as one of the top rows.

Note: please replace + with < in the beginning and > in the end as blogger does not let me publish it with angular braces. Ping me if you have any difficulty
4. Save the template and open the your blogger url. You will see your favicon reflecting now :)
