Om Shanti Om - Movie Review

I watched this movie last weekend and wanted to write a review for the same.

Story line:
Om Prakash(Shahrukh khan) is a junior artist and has dreams of becoming a super hero in the movie field. He is a die hard fan of Shantipriya (Deepika padukone) who is a top class heroine. Slowly he falls in love with her but its a one sided love. Before he could propose to her he comes to know that she is married to a rich producer in the industry and also gets pregnant. Shahrukh shatters hearing this news. The rich producer turns down Deepika and also kills her. In the process of saving Deepika's life, shahrukh too dies and there comes the interval break. The second half of the movie is about the saga of reincarnation of Shahrukh khan who becomes a super hero in his new birth era. He gets reminded of his previous birth often and he wants to take revenge on the rich producer who killed Deepika. Whether he kills him or not is the climax.

Review:
The first half of the movie takes you to the Bollywood in 1970s and it was so pleasant and funny to watch. I would say a very different experience for me as I could not imagine how Bollywood was 30 to 35 yrs ago. The first half hour or so was very hilarious and the movie drastically slows down after that with lot of unnecessary songs in different situations. Again the movie gets serious after the reincarnation saga and the last forty five mintues is again full fun especially the film fare awards scenes. Abishek Bacchan and Akshay Khanna were the best among all. Similar event that takes place in 70s where Shahrukh enters the premiere claiming to be Manoj Kumar was ultimate. When the real Manoj Kumar comes to the scene and was asked to show the license which had his face covered and signed was top class and the whole theater was brimming out with laughter. When shahrukh mocks at kollywood with words like "enna da, mind it, rascal" and fighting with villain by flying in the sky, I could not control my laughter.
