Glossary of spices & translation in English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada

With great difficulty, I managed to gather information on Indian spices and their translation into languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. Hope you all find this useful while cooking especially :). I have filled them to my level best. Feel free to correct me if you feel that you know any missing or incorrect information.

For other languages like Oriya, Marathi, etc please visit this website. I found this on the internet and felt that its a useful site.

Hi! Anise is not actually saunf! Anise tastes a bit like saunf but saunf is actually fennel seed :) Hope that helps! Excellent list btw!

Also, I speak tamil too and we use chitharathai in our family... but maybe that is borrowed from malayalam! not sure - but you might want to check!
